Management and Staff Roles (D3S, Customers, Partners)

Customer Project Managers (CPM)

The Customer Project Manager is an employee of the customer. This person serves as the designated communication counterpart of the D3S Project Manager.

Project Managers (PM)

The PM is a D3S employee who manages project planning, creates project plans, monitors project status, and assigns work.

Key Account Managers (KAM)

A KAM is an employee of D3S who serves as the designated business contact for a customer. A KAM is responsible for collecting customer requirements and communicating with the customer about the status of the customer’s project(s), and for coordinating the delivery of those projects, per the customer’s terms.

Internal Staffers (EMP)

An Internal Staffer is any employee with an internal function who works on a D3S project but does not have a customer-facing role. Staffers include data analysts, solution analysts, software and solution architects, software and system developers, software and system testers, IT workers, etc. Internal Staffers may engage with customers only when designated to do so by the KAM or PM.

External Staffers (EXT)

An External Staffer is any person contracted to work on a D3S project on an individual basis. EXT may have the same roles as EMP, but are not permitted to have access to sensitive systems or data. EXT developers are not granted access to source codes even within source control (Git), or to production environment data.

IT Staffers (IT)

An IT Staffer is an internal D3S IT employee who reports directly to the IT Manager. The IT Manager is responsible for all activities of the IT Department, include the activities of cross-functional teams that produce or maintain IT resources and infrastructure. The IT Manager is also responsible for IT Security, IT Audit Compliance, and IT Procurement.

Partners (PAR)

A Partner is an employee of a company that has entered into a partner agreement with D3S to provide services to D3S and/or to D3S customers. In the latter case, the subject of the service is D3S software products, which the partner sells and/or services on behalf of D3S and our customers.

Human Resources Manager (HRM)

The HR Manager is responsible for coordinating EMP training and education, and monitoring professional development in coordination with department heads.

Product Managers

Product Managers are responsible for the quality and development direction of individual software products, as well as the services that support them.

Marketing Director

The Marketing Director is responsible for establishing overall vision for D3S products, approving product development plans proposed by Product Managers, and ensuring those plans align with the overall product development roadmap.

Sales Director

The Sales Director is responsible for identifying market needs based on current and prospective customer feedback, and communicating those needs to both the MD and PROD teams for implementation in future product developments.


Development Team Roles (Project Roles)

Analyst

Reformulates Requirements, Creates Use Cases, Prepares Preliminary Data Models and Data Flows.

UI/UX Designer

Models the User Interface, Develops UI Guidelines and implements UX Controls

Software Architect

Defines SW and System Architecture, Identifies Design Elements, Reviews the Design, Reviews Code, Develops Programming Guidelines, Designs Components, Design the Database

Developer

Implements Components, Fixes Defects, Performs Unit Tests

Senior Developer

Does all of the above, plus: Creates and Assigns Developer Work Packages, Reviews Code and Commits, Performs Advanced Testing, Manages Releases, and Maintains Master code.

Test Designer

Creates Test Plans and Evaluates Completed Tests

Tester

Tests and Evaluates Submitted Code and Features, Analyzes Test Failures

Deployment Manager

Manages Acceptance Tests, Develops Deployment Plans, Writes Release Notes, Releases Versions

Configuration Manager

Sets Up Environments, Establishes Policies, Performs Configuration Audits, Plans System Integration, Managers Set Up Tools

Project Manager

Monitors Project Status, Assigns Work Packages, Reports Status, Reviews Iterations, Develops Project Plans, Defines the Project Organization, Coordinates with KAMs and/or Customer PMs

Executive / Key Decision Maker (KDM)

Prepares Project Offers for Business Sponsors, Makes Key Decisions

Business Sponsor / Customer Executive (CUST)

Initiates New Projects, Makes Enhancement Requests, Approves Budgets, Confirms Acceptance (PQ / UAT)

Trainer

Creates / Updates user manuals.
