Inception CRM version 2023.5 introduces support for 3rd-party dashboards

Inception CRM version 2023.5 is now available in the App Store.

In addition to the usual bug fixes, optimizations, and improvements, Version 2023.5 introduces a key enhancement that brings Inception CRM’s analytics capability to a new level: the ability to access any third-party dashboard right inside the app.

Embed Microsoft PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau dashboards right inside your CRM app

One of the most common requests we receive, as a CRM provider, is to integrate third-party data into our app. Traditionally, this has meant importing external data directly into our database and then using those data to build the reports our users need. For example, to better understand their customers and territories, or to analyze their sales.

This often leads to a lot of data that doesn’t really need to be there for the CRM system to do its job. It turns CRM into a defacto data warehouse, or a transit hub for information unrelated to the core purpose of CRM, which is working with customer data and organizing user activity.

While it makes perfect sense for a user to want to see sales-relevant information in their CRM system, a place where they can act on it, it doesn’t always make sense to replicate what’s already available elsewhere, such as dashboards and reports created using professional tools best suited to that purpose.

This is why we now support direct integration of third-party dashboards and reports right inside Inception CRM. By supporting secure user authorization to external reporting services, and displaying those services in Inception CRM, users can now access custom dashboards from any supported business intelligence platform, like Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau, without leaving their CRM app.

How it works:

When a user opens their Dashboard module in Inception CRM or launches a customer-specific dashboard from a Customer Card, Inception CRM can securely pass the user’s credentials directly to the third-party service, along with any relevant filtering parameters, and load a configured view.

Alternatively, Inception CRM’s iPad app can display a dialog allowing the user to enter their own credentials, which can be stored securely on the device (using iOS keychain) and used by Inception CRM any time user wants to access the report.

The result is a more convenient, comfortable experience for users, faster access to information, and the security that comes with keeping sensitive data in one place, and not distributing it among multiple systems and their databases.
